Jacob Blonquist
Jake became a student of the Academy when he was 6 months old and continued until he graduated from High School at age 18.

The Challenge
Jake was a very energetic and intense little boy who sometimes had trouble sitting still and focusing his attention on the task at hand. He had music in his bones, so his parents wanted to find an environment that would harness and direct this energy towards the development of his obivous musical talent.
Our Solution
We had the perfect program at every stage of Jake’s musical development and the track to help him achieve a lifetime of musical enjoyment.
Jake started in our group program for young beginners as a toddler where he was exposed to a comprehensive set of musical concepts including ear training, rhythm, singing, solfege, exposure to the keyboard and many other age-appropriate concepts through short, engaging activities, many of which that mirrored play. As he grew, developed and improved, his classes evolved right along with him to match his increasing skills and abilities. By the time he graduated from the program, he possessed skills far beyond what one would expect for a private student his age.
At about age 9, Jake entered our private program where he enjoyed weekly, individualized lessons which took his skills to a new level. His learning was further super-charged by numerous performance opportunities and work in our music theory lab.
Because of his skill, work ethic and delightful personality, Jake was invited to become an apprentice teacher at the Academy during his High School years which gave him meaningful work and allowed him to share his talent and hard work with others.
The Results
During his time with us, Jake participated in close to 100 successful performances which included wins in various Festivals and other competitions as well as a concerto performance with his High School Orchestra. He is also a composer and was able to conduct one of his original pieces with his his High School choir. His music study helped him develop the coveted skills of discipline, focus, concentration, goal-setting, problem-solving, along with many others. These skills, no doubt, helped him graduate from High School with High Honors and earn his college degree in three years. Jake is now a successful entrepreneur and enjoys making music almost every day.
